SUBANG JAYA: Taylor’s University marked its 10th convocation with three ceremonies to accommodate more than 1,000 graduates from eight schools.
The graduates received their diplomas and degrees from the Chancellor Academician Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Syed Jalaludin Syed Salim.
Taylor's University Vice Chancellor and President Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Said, Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Pradeep Nair, Deans and academic staff of every faculty also witnessed the Convocation Ceremony.
Addressing the graduating cohort, Prof Datuk Dr Hassan said, "The new world is created by connected thoughts and actions of individuals who are driven by the passion of making the world a better place.”
He added that the 6 important competencies students achieve in university does not stop inside the classroom, but goes beyond the boundaries.
“The personal competencies that got you here – knowledge, passion, critical thinking, creativity and open minds to learn – will be important throughout your lives. So, please continue to nurture them”, he said.
Representing School of Communication (SOC), Valedictorian Crystal Loh Wai Ching said in her speech, “Always give your level best, be hungry for knowledge, be willing to be improved and always strive for excellence.”
“My recipe of excellence is simple – determination, dedication and discipline. My mission is to inspire others,” said the 22-year-old.
Loh, who was a Taylor’s World Class scholar and SOC Communicator of the Year during her university days, is an inspirational icon for all Taylorians.
She lived by a motto – “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams and live the life you have imagined”.
