SUBANG JAYA: Taylor’s University (TU) installs flags of various countries in front of the admission office recently.
According to the Senior Executive of Students Affair, Mohamed Hussaini Abdullah this is one of TU’s efforts to promote internationalisation on campus ground.
“We have a lot of international students here and they come from all around the globe so why not show these flags as a sign that we always welcome them here,” Mohamed said.
Students also gave their responses to the new initiative, saying that they are proud to have seen their national flags on the campus ground.
Public Relations major, Nadia Ahmed, 23 expresses her joy after seeing Kenyan flag waving together with other countries’ flags.
“I’m so proud, as a Kenyan to be seeing my country’s flag waving on the campus ground.
“It makes me feel welcomed and I guess my sense of longing for my country is now cured,” Nadia said.
Even local students think that it is a positive action from TU as it encourages students to learn more about other countries and respect one another.
Architecture major, Syaza Yunos, 22 said that it’s interesting to be learning about other countries’ flags and learn the stories behind them.
“Every flag has its own story, so it is interesting to be asking my international friends about their national flags and learn about the history behind them,” Syaza said.
However, not all flags have been installed, TU will keep updating the number of flags and they aim to install as much flags as they can.
