SUBANG JAYA: Many Taylor’s University (TU) students are unaware of the Student Mobile Printing service despite its launch since March last year.
A quick survey by The InkSlingers with a number of students from different majors and academic intakes revealed that many did not utilise the service simply because they did not know about its existence.
First year Hospitality and Management student Wieke Veronicia, 19, said, “Until now, I have never gotten any information regarding this service.”
The survey showed that even students currently in their second year and above did not know about the Student Mobile Printing service, or had yet to use it.
Final year Interior Architecture student Stevanie Lu, 21, said, “I never realised that TU has this kind of printing service.
“If I found out earlier, I would have just printed files using my laptop without having to spend more time logging in and transferring documents through TU computers.”
Accounting and Finance student Johana Tania, 21, said she had heard about the service before, but never tried to use it because she did not know the step-by-step instructions and assumed that it was complicated.
ICT Manager Jonathan Yeo said, “We did put effort in making our service known to the students, however we’re not sure whether the students themselves are aware of this.”

He said that the announcement had been posted on TU student portal and notified through posters on academic blocks such as computer labs and elevators. Yeo added that instructions for using the service were fairly easy to follow, and students could refer to the User Mobile Guide posted on Taylor's online portal. “Students can print directly from their personal devices as long as they are connected to TU Wi-Fi, i-Xcess, and logged in to the student portal,” he said. |
