The diversity of Taylorians was seen during the World Fest 2015 event held on 5 June at The Grand Hall, which showcased students from all over the world.
During the event, Manager, Foreign Talent Facilitation, TalentCorp Malaysia Tan Keat Meng shared with the international students about the Employment Pass Category 2.
Employment Pass Category 2 was introduced, especially for international fresh graduates who wish to work in Malaysia.
In order for international fresh graduates to have this employment pass, there are three things that they need to know.
Tan said, “You must be successful in a graduate selection process of a reputable firm, pursuing degree in Setara Tier-5 institutions and a top scorer with at least a second upper.”
As Taylor’s University (TU) is a Tier-5 university (School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts – Tier-6), TU international students are eligible for the pass.
However, they also need to maintain their CGPA and be selected by a reputable firm for the job.
Regarding international graduates securing a job with a reputable firm in Malaysia, Tan emphasised, “We have no list of companies that apply Employment Pass Category 2, but we urged international students to attend career fairs and ask the employers whether they have applied the pass or vice versa. If they don’t, international students can share with them about the pass.”
The pass should be applied by the companies that are hiring the international graduates, and Tan shared that only credible companies such as government linked companies (GLC) can apply for the pass.
